Nyamilandu admits gap between Fam, Massa

Fam president Walter Nyamilandu has admitted the existence of a gap between Fam and Malawi School Sports Association (Massa).
Nyamilandu said for the past years the two associations were working separately, something that was against the development of the sport.
“Both Fam and Massa aim at developing football in the country, yet our programmes were not synchronised,” Nyamilandu said at an English FA Level 1 course that targeted primary and secondary school teachers which ended last week at Chiwembe Technical Centre.
“But for the past months we have managed to draw our programmes together and it has helped a lot.”
Thirty-five coaches attended the course which English instructors Darren Robinson and Richard Cooper conducted.
Nyamilandu said Fam has benefited a lot from Massa programmes like national schools championships.
“The schools national championship has produced talent that I cannot start mentioning here,” he said.
“The Under-17 national team is a good example how Massa has contributed towards Fam programmes.”
The Fam boss said it was association’s wish that all schools competitions should be accredited by Fam.
“Fam is the only institution that is mandated to run football in the country. We do not need parallel structures,” he said.
“We are now working together. What we need now is to enforce this relationship so that we have some sort of integrated approach.”
