Share World Open University has given Malawi’s Big Brother Africa III (BBA III) representative Hazel Warren a three-year scholarship to study any course of her choice.

Share World’s Professor Jack Makhaza said Hazel was a former student of the University based at its Lilongwe campus where she studied Marketing.

Tuition fees for a year is at K240,000 which means the three years the university will pay K720,000 if Hazel takes up the offer.

Makhaza says this has come about because the university is impressed with the way Hazel carried herself in the house and that she has made Malawi and Africa proud.

“She represented Malawi well. I don’t know the objectives of Big Brother, but for sure I know that Hazel made us (Malawi) proud,” he said.

He added that Hazel can choose to go back at anytime of her choice.

“This is coming from deep down our hearts,” he said.

A former student of Share World, Hazel could not believe it when she was told about the news.

She said the scholarship has come at the right time as she has always intended to go back to school.

“Wow! This is a surprise. I am glad and very happy that I will go back to school. This has come just in time,” she said.

Hazel enrolled with the university in 2002 and graduated in 2003 with an advanced diploma in Travel and Tourism.

With an advanced diploma Hazel will only need two years to do her degree.

Share World is one of the few government accredited private universities.
